Short Code

A shortcode is a 5 digit number that provides a 2 way communication that is send and receive messages. Businesses use this service to collect database and opt-in consumers to their SMS programs, and then use that database to send out promotional messages.

We have three types of shortcodes:

Platinum numbers

Short code constituting quadruple numbers i.e. 2222, 5555, 8888, Numbers with religious significance

Golden Numbers

These are Short code starting or ending with triple digits e.g. 2227, 1117, 8880, 4000 etc.

Normal Numbers

These are short codes that are not in the above categories

The above short code categories are further divided in to two as below:

1. Dedicated Short code

This code is independently owned by a said client and can be linked to a database to provide response on request or queries for particular information. It gives room for up to 1000 key words and can therefore be used for a multiple of activities based on a client’s needs. Cost implication; One off set up fee of Kes. 25,000. Monthly rental fee of Kes. 15,000 VAT EXCLUSIVE.

2. Shared Short Code

These codes are owned by Advanta and rented out to different partners where each partner has a unique keyword. Cost implication; One off set up fee of Kes. 15,000. Monthly rental fee of Kes. 5,000 VAT EXCLUSIVE.
